Darion Bramwell Obituary, Death – Miami Gardens Police have identified the 17-year-old boy who was fatally struck by an SUV near his school as Darion Bramwell, a student at North Gardens High School. Bramwell was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he later passed away due to his injuries, according to Miami Gardens Police.
Newly obtained surveillance footage shows a group of kids exiting a county bus and crossing the street. Bramwell, wearing a white shirt, attempted to run away from the speeding SUV but was unable to avoid the collision.
Fellow students at the school expressed their grief over the loss of their classmates.
“It’s a lot. It’s wild,” one student said. “He was a loving kid,” Gabriel shared. “He was a loving kid.”
“Darion was a very cool individual. He’s my best friend,” added Yamid Bradley. The school principal is advising students to exercise caution when crossing the street.
In a statement released on Monday, the principal emphasized the importance of pedestrian safety and reminded everyone to prioritize safety at all times.
The principal also assured that the school would offer support and comfort to students and staff during this difficult time.
Bradley expressed his sadness over the tragic incident, saying, “It was sad to see him go out that way. It kinda affected me bad.” Authorities are reminding the public, especially parents and children, to use designated crosswalks and to cross the street with care.
“We urge the parents to please talk to your kids. Let them know to not cross the middle of the street, cross where there is light. Make sure they are using the proper crosswalk,” stated Detective Diana Gourgue of the Miami Gardens Police Department.
