Dimitri Calvert Obituary, Death – The individual who was shot by Springdale police on Tuesday has been identified as Dimitri Calvert, a 30-year-old. According to the Springdale Police Department, Calvert was shot and killed by a Springdale police officer after he refused to drop a knife. The incident occurred on Norfolk Avenue, where police were dispatched following reports of Calvert damaging vehicles and threatening people in the neighborhood.
Upon arrival, the officer encountered Calvert, who was armed with a knife. Despite repeated requests to drop the weapon, Calvert did not comply, leading the officer to use lethal force. Calvert was subsequently taken to a local hospital but was pronounced dead. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the shooting to determine if the use of deadly force was justified.
As part of the investigation, Calvert’s body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy. By standard procedure, the officer involved has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
