Francisco Leonel Rivera Cosme, Alexis Manuel Lopez Rivera Obituary – The two individuals who were killed in a shooting on NE 17th Street have been identified by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. The sheriff’s office received a call on Friday morning at approximately 6:45 a.m. regarding the shooting, which took place in the 5100 block of NE 17th Street. Upon investigation, it was determined that one male shot the other and then took his own life. Both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have classified this shooting as an “isolated incident.” On Monday, the sheriff’s office released the names of the deceased individuals as 33-year-old Francisco Leonel Rivera Cosme from Des Moines and 31-year-old Alexis Manuel Lopez Rivera from West Des Moines.
According to the sheriff’s office, Lopez Rivera was responsible for shooting Rivera Cosme. It has also been revealed that the victim and suspect were acquainted with each other prior to the incident. The sheriff’s office is currently working to establish a motive for the shooting.
The investigation into this tragic event is still ongoing.
