Jason Lee McDuffy Death – The man who was shot and killed by police in Montgomery County on Tuesday has been identified as Jason Lee McDuffy, a 44-year-old resident of Beckley, WV. Virginia State Police reported that McDuffy died at the scene after being shot. The incident originated in Giles County when a deputy tried to stop the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck pulling a trailer that had been stolen from Narrows on Monday, as per the Giles County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon being pulled over, the driver ignored police commands to exit the vehicle and fled into Montgomery County. Officers from multiple jurisdictions joined the pursuit.
Police deployed stop sticks to deflate the tires. Despite all four tires being punctured, the driver continued on Route 114 for several miles until the vehicle was finally brought to a stop. The driver, who did not comply with officers’ instructions, brandished a gun, prompting the police to open fire.
Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the incident.
The investigation is being carried out by the Virginia State Police. Once the investigation concludes, the results will be handed over to the Montgomery County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for further examination.
