Jermaine Calvin Major Obituary – A man from Elizabeth City has passed away after being struck by a car on Thursday, February 8th. The Elizabeth City Police received a call about a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of White Street and Walston Avenue around 2:30 in the morning.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police discovered Jermaine Calvin Major, a 43-year-old resident of Elizabeth City, trapped underneath a car. Medical personnel worked diligently to free Major from under the vehicle and administered life-saving measures, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
The alleged driver, Tyisha Louella Major, a 44-year-old resident of Elizabeth City and the spouse of the victim, was identified as being impaired at the time of the accident, according to the police.
Tyisha Major has been charged with the following offenses:
1. Driving while impaired
2. Felony death by motor vehicle
Currently, Major is in custody at the Albemarle District Jail with a secured bond of $50,000. The police have stated that the investigation is still ongoing.
