Kevin Jenkins Obituary, Death – Police are currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in a Cobb County neighborhood early Friday morning. Authorities have verified that the incident took place shortly after midnight at a residence on the 2600 block of McGuire Drive near Jiles Road in Kennesaw. Upon receiving reports of gunfire, law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and discovered evidence of a shooting on the street. Kevin Jenkins, a resident living nearby, mentioned hearing six or seven gunshots.
Subsequently, 911 operators were notified that 21-year-old Sanifu Henry had been brought to Kennestone Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, Henry succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the hospital. Mary Mathis, Henry’s mother, expressed that her son was a kind-hearted individual who faced challenges due to disabilities but managed to graduate from Kell High School. She was unaware of the circumstances that led him to be in the car with others during the incident.
Kennesaw police have identified two suspects, 18-year-old Zier Xzavier Green and 19-year-old Re’Shard Marquis Lee, in connection with the shooting. Both individuals are currently in custody and facing multiple charges, including murder, aggravated assault, drug-related offenses, and possession of a counterfeit substance. Reports indicate that the suspects were found with marijuana and a substance resembling oregano and/or spinach leaves. Investigators believe that the tragic event unfolded during a situation involving drugs while the group of young men were in a vehicle. Jenkins mentioned that such incidents are not common in the neighborhood and were considered alarming.
