Taty ana Zakiyyah Cooks Death, MONDAY NEWS HIT – A Woodbridge mother was discovered deceased in a garbage truck following a welfare check conducted last week. The deceased has been identified as Taty’ana Zakiyyah Cooks, a 30-year-old resident of Woodbridge. On March 21, around 8:49 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 12200 block of Stevenson Ct in Woodbridge to investigate a missing person report. Concerned family members had alerted the authorities as Cooks had failed to collect her child from daycare.
According to officials, an acquaintance of the victim, identified as 28-year-old Brendon Devon White, was driving Cook’s vehicle in Newport News City, located in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. The victim’s personal belongings were still present at her Woodbridge residence.
Later that day, White was apprehended by the Newport News police and will be returned to Prince William County, as informed by FOX 5. Detectives intercepted and secured a trash collection truck on Friday morning, where the victim’s body was subsequently discovered.
Lieutenant Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police stated, “They were concerned about potential evidence being present in that truck. They promptly secured the vehicle, and unfortunately, our victim was found deceased inside. There is no specific time limit to report a missing family member. If you have concerns about the well-being of a loved one, family member, coworker, or friend, please contact the police as soon as possible. The family in this case acted promptly, and we commend them for that. Although the outcome is tragic, they recognized the concern and immediately reached out to the authorities.”
