Dianna Cricelli, a 68-year-old from Pocahontas, Illinois, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Her husband, Frank Cricelli, 66, was also seriously injured in the crash.
The family is currently grieving the loss of Dianna and has requested privacy during this challenging period. Alongside Dianna, three others were seriously injured, including a 67-year-old woman, a 55-year-old woman, and a 58-year-old man. Furthermore, a man in his 70s was taken to the hospital in stable condition, while six other adults with minor injuries declined transportation.
The incident occurred around 10:20 a.m. on Friday in a private parking lot near the cruise ship port in Honolulu. The driver of the shuttle bus, a 57-year-old individual, was dropping off and picking up passengers when he received a notification that the vehicle was moving forward. In an attempt to stop the bus, the driver hastily jumped into the driver’s seat but mistakenly pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes. This resulted in the bus colliding with the crowd of people.
Eyewitnesses recounted the horrifying moment when the bus struck the group, pinning some against concrete barriers. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of Dianna Cricelli.
