Seth Amundson Death – The driver who was killed in a crash north of Waterloo on Friday morning has been identified by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on 230th Street, approximately one mile south of Edgewater Road, shortly before 11:30 a.m. Upon arrival, deputies and personnel from Waterloo Fire and Rescue discovered a Chevy Impala that had veered about 20 feet off the west side of 230th Street, with the front of the car resting against a tree.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was found unresponsive. Deputies had to break the rear passenger-side window in order to unlock the driver’s door. Despite their attempts to revive the driver through CPR, Seth Amundson, a 55-year-old resident of Elkhorn, was pronounced dead by Waterloo medics. According to the initial investigation, the Impala was traveling south on 230th Street when it departed from the roadway and collided with a tree.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has stated that neither speed nor alcohol appear to have been contributing factors in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
